Meet Klara, one of our Missionary for Life interns for the summer of 2017. Klara will be helping us spread the pro-life message, offering hope and resources with three other Missionaries for Life team members at each Vans Warped Tour stop; 41 of them during a 52-day adventure traveling 16,617 miles!
Erik Whittington: Tell us about yourself.
Klara: Hi. I’m Klara McKee. I am 18-years-old. I will be graduating from a STEM+M high school in June and starting college this August. I am the youngest of six kids. I am from Northeast, Ohio in a small town about twenty-five minutes from Akron.
Erik: What are your favorite movies?
Klara: I am not a huge movie fan, but the movies I continuously rewatch are The Giver, Finding Nemo, and Finding Dory.
Erik: Do you like to read? If so, what are you reading right now?
Klara: I don’t read a ton, but I highly enjoy devotionals.
Erik: Who are your favorite bands?
Klara: Fall Out Boy is my number one. I have loved Fall Out Boy’s music and sound ever since I was young. I also love Luke Bryan, We The Kings, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and Florida Georgia Line.
Erik: Why are you pro-life?
Klara: I am pro-life because of situations in my life I have had to overcome such as becoming pregnant through rape and miscarrying in silence. I now wish to advocate for women so that they know they don’t have to hide in pain and shame, but they can be successful even if they go through terrible situations.
Erik: What are you most excited for this summer?
Klara: I am very excited to go all over the country this summer. I have always had a desire to travel and I finally will be able to scratch the itch. I am also highly excited to see some bands I haven’t ever been able to see.
Erik: What makes you want to give up your summer to be a Missionary for Life?
Klara: I don’t think of it as giving up my summer. I look at it as I am going to be fully experiencing this summer. I have had a passion for life for the past few years that I can’t shake. I hope to be able to get conversations started and people thinking about the issue of protecting the sanctity of life.
We are very excited to have Klara as a part of our Missionaries for Life team this summer. We can’t wait to see how she uses her talents to benefit the team this summer and our efforts on the Vans Warped Tour.
Klara will be touring with three other Missionaries for Life on the Vans Warped Tour. This tour is a secular, mainstream festival that invites non-profits to be apart of their adventure. We are so thankful that they have allowed us to be a part of their tour and we look forward to this opportunity to offer hope, resources and scientific facts to concert-goers of the humanity of the child growing in-utero.
The Missionaries for Life is a non-paid internship. Klara has set-up a fundraising page to help cover her costs. Please keep her and the Missionaries for Life team in your thoughts and prayers. If you feel led to donate to her, click here.
You can keep up with Klara and the rest of the Missionaries for Life this summer through the Rock for Life blog and our social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr and Snapchat). You can also follow Klara directly through her fundraising page as well as her social media pages (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).

We now have the full Vans Warped Tour team officially announced. We can’t wait to introduce the rest of the Missionaries for Life to you. Only two more to go. Stay tuned!
